First love is the strongest

Fact #1: This was the first (and the only one) Computer with a Rainbow.

That is a merrit badge to be proud of.

Fact #2: The chiclet keyboard smelled like new for decades.

The keys are marked with BASIC commands: pressing "R" when in programming mode would insert the BASIC command RUN.

Do you know what is programming, children? Programming is Art by yourself.

Fact #3:16 kb.

Programming, database, word processor, spreadsheet, painting, 3D-modelling and astronomy software: All in 16 kb.

In other words: The infinite Universe in only 16 kb.

Computers are made for Art: If not, no.

Fact #4: Arkanoid is the physical evidence of extraterrestrial life.

If you played it once, you can understand me.

Fact #5: "-What's up with your new computer, son?." "-Great, dad. I just made a Schedule." "-Cool, son."

At the age of 14, I made my first BASIC program: a very very complex Schedule.

My scheduled list: "For the next 20 years: Love. Be loved. That's all"

Computers are made for Art: If not, no.

Adrian, first of all and as you already know, I know nothing (or almost nothing) about computer programming. The only think I know about it is that only really SMART people can do it. People like you :)

I had never thought of computer programming as an art before I read your blog. You're so right! It IS a form of art. Like painting for instance, one has to be passionate about it, persistent, creative, pay attention to details, be patient, and most of all to devote all his/her life in this.

You seem to be in love with your job. That's a wonderful feeling and a true blessing. I'm not at all surprised you're such a good programmer, it's only natural. Not only you're very smart but also passionate about your work.

I think the fact that you made your first basic program at the age of 14 is simply amazing. It's not something anyone can do, as far as I know.

And your scheduled list is wonderful. Love and be loved...what more one could ask for really?

I enjoyed reading your blog Adrian. Thank you.

Art/Love is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in.

you're so right. Back in '93 when I learnt basic, I pretty much knew about 80-90% of the functionality of GWbasic. :) My creativity was constrained by the language features. Now, I can hardly claim to know 20-30% of any language even if I am an 'expert' in some technology. Ah the olden days !

Oh, I still remember seeing a ZX81 the first time... and then came Spectrum. All those hours spent playing Jet Set Willy etc. ... spent, not wasted LOL.

I remember having to learn Fortran my first year of Engineering and going further, using basic in elementary school for "elementary" stuff :) My dad had a computer that occupied a whole room and it used punch cards....now THAT's going back!

Not sure if I am a supergeek, but I did try to learn visual basic once. But I podcast and blog, so I guess that counts for something. :-)

You definitely write like an artist, so I wouldn't be so quick to label yourself as a supergeek. You're more like a geek with his freak on! ;)

So glad to see something so different, interesting and amazing! But really what else could I expect from you?!!! Your friends correctly called a genius :-)
For the first love: Yes, it is always the most powerful and true... Everything is done with love have good result. This can be seen here in your blog (and not only)!
I`m very happy to have a friend like you - smart, intelligent, capable, with incredibly good heart.... But whatever I say will not be enough!!! In each our conversation, I learn something new, something interesting.
And as always you`re so funny. You so love to deride. But let's not forget that you are a genius - This is typical for them :-) The more I know, the more I admire you.
I wish you even greater success and even more love! Always follow your dreams and never stop to dream! I`m so thankful to have a friend like you :-)
